Kountoura Looks to Attract More Tourists from the U.S. to Greece
Aiming to attract more tourists to Greece from the United States, Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura met and exchanged views with American political figures during her recent visit to Las Vegas to attend the sixth IMEX America trade show.
While in Las Vegas, Minister Kountoura’s agenda included meetings with Nevada Senator Harry Reid, Nevada Congresswoman Dina Titus, Texas Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, California Congressman Xavier Becerra and Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goldmark Goodman.
During her meetings, Kountoura underlined that the ministry sees the U.S. as a priority tourism market for Greece. She also referred to the rise in American tourists to her country in 2015 and 2016 as a result of the ministry’s targeted efforts in actively promoting Greece during those past two years.
Moreover, the minister discussed the prospects of further strengthening the flow of U.S. tourists to Greece through a strengthened direct flight connection. This year three American airlines launched direct flights to Greece, as opposed to one operating a non-stop connection to the country in 2015
But we do need more flights for these visitors…..
…..direct service from Chicago is needed, and the New York service needs to be year-round, not just summer!!
