Pelion Train “Moutzouris” Turns 110 And Celebrates
Railway services operator Trainose will charge a special price for adults and children who board the steam train of Pelion, the legendary so-called “Moutzouris,” on 7 August, in celebration of the train’s 110th birthday.
Trainose announced it will charge a return ticket of 15 euros for adults and 8 euros for children for a journey on one of the two routes departing from Ano Lechonia that day.
Many events are planned for Moutzouris’ birthday.
At Agios Georgios Nileias, a seven-day international Storytelling Festival (5-11 August) will be held.
On 7 August, the whole day will be dedicated to the 110 years of the steam train, with storytelling and experiential stories about the train stations of Ano Lechonia, Gatzeas and Milies.
Furthermore, throughout the week an exhibition featuring pottery, photography, painting and handmade dolls will take place.

The steam train of Pelion, “Moutzouris,” is highly connected to the history of Pelion as it helped shape the social and economic life of the region.
Today it still travels on the same rails, mixing memories with contemporary images and moments.
