The chamber announced that a “think tank” for tourism would be launched to assist in the upgrade of ITEP. The think tank will include Greek and foreign research experts.
“The aim is for ITEP to contribute to the upgrade of the country’s research at the same level of European and international tourism research,” an announcement said.
According to the new president, the Documentation Center For Greek Tourism, an initiative of the hotel chamber and ITEP, would soon begin operation. The center is designed to provide immediate access to reliable information and statistics on various aspects of growth and development of Greek tourism.
In addition, Mr. Metaxas said two major events (a conference and exhibition) were being planned for 2014, which marks “100 years of the institutional operation of Greek tourism.” ITEP will request for both events to be held under the auspices of the Tourism Ministry.
