Athens Flying Week Leaves Audience Impressed
The Greek air show Athens Flying Week wrapped up last weekend, 29-30 September, at Tatoi Airfield, but not without offering spectacular performances to spectators.
The first Athens Flying Week was labeled a “great success.”
According to organizers P.C Podimatas Audiovisual S.A. and PPDA archdesign group, attendance numbers were very satisfying.
Featured performances included those of world-renowned Francesco Fornabaio (former champion and from 2010 the No. 1 pilot of Breitling), Luca Bertossio (2012 World Advanced Glider Aerobatic Champion), an air and ground chase by the Greek Police, a master demonstration of the aircraft Air Force T-6 Demo Team, demonstrations by leading pilots of the Hellenic Navy in collaboration with Underwater Demolition Teams (O.Y.K.), impressive solo shows of experienced helicopter pilots Elias Sofianos and Dimitris Ververelis and the Aero Club Romania paratroopers.
Part of the proceeds from Athens Flying Week was donated to the Association of Friends of Children with Cancer “ELPIDA”.
The air show was co-organized with the Municipality of Acharnon and received the assistance of the Hellenic Air Force.
The event was held under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization, the City of Athens, the Athens-Attica Hotel Association, the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises, Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association of Hellas (AOPA Hellas) and the Municipality of Nea Smyrni.
