Athens Airport Launches Incentives To Support Summer Traffic
Athens International Airport (AIA) last month launched three incentives to support airlines and help maintain/increase passenger traffic for this year’s summer season.
Sustainability Incentive: With an aim to encourage sustainability of the summer 2012 traffic compared to the previous corresponding period, this incentive offers a 15 percent discount on landing and parking charges per departing flight, provided that the number of flights will be at last year’s level or at least will not drop below –5 percent.
Transfer Incentive: This incentive aims to maintain the level of transfer traffic via Athens during this summer and offers a fixed amount per departing transfer passenger (ranging from five to 15 euros per passenger that corresponds to a discount on AIA’s passenger charges ranging from 30-90 percent).
Niche Routes Incentive: AIA is offering the existing applicable “New International Route Incentive” plus a fixed return amount per departing passenger (from five to 10 euros that corresponds to a discount on AIA’s passenger charges ranging from 25-50 percent) in the form of airline discounts. This incentive aims to stimulate additional traffic and attract new direct services from niche markets that are currently not operated to/from Athens.
The new incentives correspond to a 20 percent discount on AIA’s total aeronautical charges for the summer period and are valid through October 2012.
