Greece Sees Drop Of Non-Resident Arrivals

Arrivals of foreigners to Greece have recorded a 6.7 percent decline for the first nine months of 2009, according to figures recently released by the National Statistical Service of Greece and compiled by the boarder survey of the Bank of Greece.

In regards to the allocation of arrivals by country of origin (non-residents), the majority for the first nine months of 2009, alike 2008, came from Germany (15 percent), followed by the United Kingdom (14,6 percent), other European countries (6.9 percent), Italy (6.8 percent) and France (6.7 percent).

According to data from Greek entry points, during the January-September 2009 period, airports with the largest proportion of traffic were those in Athens (19.9 percent), Heraklio (13.5 percent), Rodos (9.2 percent), other entry points (6.4 percent), Thessaloniki (5.6 percent) and Kerkyra (5.2 percent).
