Swissport and Sky Express Sign Service Agreement
Swissport signed a contract to provide ground service for passengers and airplanes with Sky Express, the new Greek airline based in Heraklion, Crete. Sky Express, established in 2005, offers passengers domestic flight service to the Greek islands and has plans to begin international cargo service in the near future.
Swissport has 40 years of experience in ground service and operates in more than 180 airports in 41 countries. The company’s clients include the leading world airlines such as Air France, British Airways, Delta, KLM, and Swiss.
The company has been active in Greece since 2001, and provides service at the five largest airports in the country (Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Rodos and Kerkyra) for about 4.5 million passengers and 40,000 aircraft movements every year.
In 2005, Swissport was awarded the prize for Best Greek Company in the service sector, with the Honorary Distinction for Quality ECO-Q by Greek Parliament President Anna Psarouda-Benaki and Development Minister Dimitris Sioufas.
Swissport International has received the Global Handling Company of the Year award every year since 2001 from the Institute of Transport Management.
