It may have taken four years, but the total rebirth of the historic Xenia Hotel on Mykonos is complete with a new name, a new owner and a completely new look. Andreas Antoniou, general manager of Louis Hotels Greece, says his company leased the property from the Hellenic Tourism Organization but that bureaucratic red tape kept progress at a very slow pace.
“Now, however, all is ready,” he says. “Forty-plus years after its original construction, the building, with its original architecture ‘protected’ by the state, has been completely renovated…. The total (renovation) investment surpasses 3.2 million euro.”
The 52-room unit’s unique 1960’s style is linked with today’s modern life style and with today’s popular bright, happy colors of green, orange, yellow and turquoise. Pavlos Gyparis, sales and marketing manager for Louis Hotels Greece, says the hotel acts as the new ‘flagship’ brand of Louis Hotels that brings the group away from strictly package travel to include individual travel.
He said the unit has six types of rooms, including special romantic rooms for newlyweds and those celebrating special anniversaries. The hotel has created a complete wedding program, including a bachelor party, as well as other special programs.
The unit opens with all deluxe amenities on June 11.
