The Cycladic isles of Syros and Mykonos as well as the remote island of Kythera are among the leading destinations Greeks will travel to this weekend for Orthodox Easter, online booking agent Travelplanet24 revealed this week.

According to the site, based on the number of ferry ticket reservations and payments, the top destinations selected by Greece’s Easter travelers include Tinos, Zakynthos, Skiathos and the nearby island of Aegina.

At an average fare of 34.5 euros, nine in 10 Greeks prefer to travel by ferry to the said destinations accounting for approximately 90 percent of all bookings made up to April 18.

Those travelling by air will be visiting Santorini as top option, followed by Rhodes, Chania in Crete, Corfu, Alexandroupolis on the mainland and the island of Kos, with tickets costing on average 201 euros.
