Aktor FM Sees Investing Opportunity in Waterways in Greece

Aktor Facility Management (Aktor FM) has decided to invest in the waterway project of Hellenic Water Airports, operator of the Corfu waterway, an announcement on Tuesday said.

Hellenic Water Airports specializes in the design, construction, licensing and operation of waterways for hydroplane operations.

A member of the ELLAKTOR Group, Aktor FM specializes in airport installation management and offers operation, maintenance and management of building facilities and installation services.

According to Aktor FM’s CEO, Yiannis Anastasiadis, his company sees great potential in this investment.

“We believe that the project will have huge growth potential positively contributing to the country’s troubled economy”, Mr Anastasiadis said.

On his part, the CEO of Greek waterways, Tasos Govas, said that Aktor FM’s participation brings significant added value to the company.

“Aktor’s accumulated experience and innovative technology used in airports, will actively contribute to the proper functioning of waterways.”

He expects multiple benefits once waterways receive licenses, especially for the destinations where the waterways will be located.

Ionian aims to have first waterway network in Greece

Corfu, of the Ionian island complex, is currently the first and thus far only waterway granted official licensing in Greece.

According to the Athens News Agency, the Ionian Islands Regional Authority has announced plans to build the necessary infrastructure in ports and to approve licensing of four new waterways in Kefalonia, Ithaca, Lefkada and Meganisi.

Meanwhile, the Greek Environment and Energy Ministry is working to simplify environmental licensing procedures for future applications.

Hellenic Water Airports has applied for the licensing of 28 more waterways in Greece.
