The Tourism Ministry and Greece’s national exhibition body, TIF-Helexpo, will jointly participate in international exhibitions abroad to promote Thessaloniki, according to a memorandum of cooperation signed Thursday, 13 November, in the Greek northern city.

The memorandum was signed between Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni and TIF-Helexpo President Tasos Tzikas during a press conference held on the sidelines of the first day of the 30th Philoxenia exhibition.

Through the cooperation, the tourism ministry will gain know-how from the expertise and experience of TIF-Helexpo in regards to exhibitions. TIF-Helexpo, on its part, will receive a boost in promoting Thessaloniki as an exhibition and conference destination, through the tourism ministry’s international networking channels.

“The Tourism Ministry, the Greek National Tourism Organization and TIF-Helexpo will combine their expertise and years of experience and develop a participation program in these exhibitions,” Mrs. Kefalogianni said.

She added that the goal is for Thessaloniki to be included among popular international destinations for city breaks, meetings and incentives, exhibitions and many other special forms of tourism.

TIF-Helexpo CEO Kyriakos Pozrikidis said that the exhibition body will act as the “executive arm” of the Greek tourism product when dealing with new and traditional markets. “At the same time, TIF-Helexpo will be included in the GNTO’s network to boost business tourism in Thessaloniki,” he said.
