Greek Hotels Nominated In World Event To Honor Excellence In Golf Tourism
Greek hotels and golf courses have been included among the nominees at the 1st Annual World Golf Awards, the global initiative launched to recognize, reward and celebrate excellence in the golf hospitality industry. World Golf Awards is part of World Travel Awards, which is heralded as “the Oscars of the travel industry.”
World Golf Awards 2014 will take place at the Conrad Algarve, Portugal, from November 13-16.
Awards will be made across a range of categories during the red carpet event, with leading golf tourism destinations competing for titles including Best Golf Resort, Best Golf Course, Best Golf Tour Operator, and Best New Golf Course.
“We made the decision to launch World Golf Awards in reaction to overwhelming demand from the golf industry for a programme that was fair and transparent,” Chris Frost, the managing director of the World Golf Awards, said.
Greece has seven nominees at the 1st World Golf Awards:
Nominees for Greece’s Best Golf Course 2014 are Corfu Golf Club, Costa Navarino Golf – The Dunes Course, Porto Carras Grand Resort – Olive Grove Course and The Crete Golf Club.
Nominees for Greece’s Best Golf Hotel 2014 are Porto Carras Grand Resort, Porto Elounda Golf & Spa Resort, The Romanos Resort, Costa Navarino and The Westin Resort Costa Navarino.

The presentation of the awards on the Saturday evening will form the centrepiece of a three-day itinerary for the event, allowing guests to enjoy some of the world-class facilities on offer at the famous Quinta do Lago Resort.
