New NTOG Appointments
Tourism Development Minister Fani Palli-Petralia recently appointed a new president and new secretary general to the Hellenic Tourism Organization. The new appointments, she said, would further enhance the development of the tourism sector with regards to investment. “Our investment policy, along with the acceleration in the maturing of investments, and the drastic cut in bureaucracy, will lead tourism into a new development cycle,” she said.
The tourism organization’s new president, Dimitris Lampadarios, and its new secretary general, Thanasis Economos, will be playing important roles in this effort, she said.
However, the minister added that both new appointees would first have to concentrate on the propulsion of our ad and promotion campaign abroad as we are already entering the new tourism period. Their immediate goals, she said, would be to prepare the marketing plan for specific markets and specific tourism products.
As well, the minister mentioned that the new appointees must quickly select executives for some of the tourism organization’s offices abroad, as some of the directors appointed were done so illegally.
She also reiterated the need for the creation of a “one-stop-shop” for private tourism investment, which her people are already working on. She had said that the office would attempt to synchronize big investment projects.
