Worldspan Powers Ahead with Monogram
Travel technology provider Worldspan is reaping the rewards of its investment program in the Greek travel industry market with further agency wins and several new product introductions over the past several months.
One of the biggest Athens-based travel agencies, Monogram Travel, recently signed with Worldspan to provide GDS and technology services. Monogram’s chief executive officer, Dimitris Spyropoulos, says Worldspan was chosen because of its superior reservations processing system as well as its standards of customer support services.
During 2003, Worldspan introduced a number of new technology solutions. Products new to the Greek market, all of which are designed to help agents and suppliers make their businesses more efficient, productive and profitable, include the company’s “SecuRate Air Plus” used for processing negotiated fares more efficiently.
The system processes all negotiated and published fare information in a single database for faster and more efficient processing with just one pricing entry.
There’s also “Go! Express” that’s the latest user-friendly application for Worldspan’s innovative Go! browser-based desktop PC solution. This program simplifies and streamlines the reservations process by using intuitive programming to ‘read’ initial entries and display ‘clickable’ options for the next steps. Keystrokes are reduced, time is saved and productivity is enhanced.
The third new product is “Total Rates,” which is a powerful fare search technology that lets agencies search efficiently for, and compare, Interrnet-based fares of low cost airlines with published and negotiated fares of airlines on the Worldspan system. Results are shown in a single integrated display.
As well, Worldspan, a global travel e-commerce market leader, last year signed a technology agreement with Hotwire.com, a leading discount travel site, to power Hotwire’s airline bookings. As part of the new partnership, Worldspan will supply Hotwire with an enhanced technology agreement, which includes a range of essential technology services that utilizes state-of-the-art pricing solutions.
Worldspan provides Internet booking solutions and services to four of the five largest online travel sites-Expedia®, Orbitz, Priceline.com® and, with today’s announcement, Hotwire.com. Worldspan processes the vast majority of all online travel agency bookings.
