IMF Calls For VAT On Greek Food Service To Rise Again To 23%

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is pushing for the value-added tax (VAT) on Greek food services to return to 23 percent.

The Hellenic Chamber of Hotels congratulated the Greek Government and the Prime Minister on 17 July for the persistence and efficiency shown for the reduction of the VAT rate in the food service sector.

VAT Cut On Greek Food Service Expected Next Month

The VAT reduction on Greek food catering services (restaurants, hotel restaurants, cafeterias, etc.) is expected to come into force as of 1 August as the Greek Government and the country’s international lenders seem to be reaching an agreement on the issue.
