Held around the theme of ‘Rethinking Tourism’, World Tourism Day 2022 emphasized the sector’s unique potential to drive recovery and deliver positive change for people everywhere.
Changes in the Earth’s climate and the imminent effects on the climate system are happening now and some of these, such as rising temperatures and sea levels, are irreversible, says an IPCC study.
The 2020 edition of World Tourism Day will celebrate the unique role that tourism plays in providing opportunities for rural communities around the world.
"Tourism can transform our world and build better understanding in a world living a deficit of tolerance", said UNWTO Secretary-General Taleb Rifai at the opening ceremony of ITB Berlin.
