Travel agents from 12 countries around the world recently discovered Halkidiki‘s wonders during a fam trip organized by the Halkidiki Tourism Organization (HTO).
Organized in collaboration with the Thessaloniki Convention Bureau (TCB), the fam trip to Halkidiki took place April 23-25 and followed the 4th Connect Tourism & Travel Event, a key meeting point for Greek and foreign tourism professionals, held in Thessaloniki during April 21-23.
The fam trip saw a group of twenty travel agents from the US, the UK, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, France, Germany, Turkey, and various other countries being immersed in the diverse tourism offerings of Halkidiki, engaging in an array of curated activities and captivating tours throughout the destination.
While in Halkidiki, the travel agents explored quaint seaside villages, delving into the region’s unique characteristics, rich history, and vibrant culture. Notable stops included Nikiti, Ouranoupolis, and Ancient Stagira, the birthplace of the renowned Greek philosopher Aristotle.
According to the HTO, among the trip’s highlights was a visit to a cheese factory, offering insight into the art of Greek cheese production. Moreover, participants savored Greek cheeses paired with local wines and beers sourced from the destination’s artisanal breweries.
“The travel agents the agents were enchanted by the beauty, authenticity, and hospitality of Halkidiki, affirming its status as an appealing destination for travelers worldwide, boasting a diverse array of tourism offerings,” the organization said.
Connect, a three-day event, is jointly organized by the TCB in collaboration with the Central Macedonia Region and the HTO. Now in its fourth consecutive year, the event served as a platform for showcasing Thessaloniki, Halkidiki, and the surrounding destinations to both European and international markets. Moreover, it provided a valuable opportunity for local tourism professionals to network and forge connections with international markets, while also assisting hosted buyers in uncovering emerging Greek destinations.
Halkidiki was represented by five regional hotel groups, collectively hosting 140 B2B meetings with delegations from international tourism markets. Additionally, Tania Akritidou, the Marketing and Communications Director of HTO, highlighted Halkidiki’s abundant natural and cultural treasures, placing emphasis on thematic tours and gastronomic experiences.
