Ask Atlas: KLM Launches AI Driven Destination Recommender Tool
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines recently announced the launch of its new AI-driven destination recommender tool named “Ask Atlas”.
The platform, developed by ACE Ai Studio and digital agency Born05, uses artificial intelligence to provide personalized inspiration to KLM travelers.
Starting its global launch from Greece, the platform, which intuitively provides travelers with tailored travel inspiration, will go live in phases in another 39 countries and 12 languages.
“KLM is known for its high-quality and immersive travel content. With the help of generative AI, the personalization of it really takes off,” said Fabiënne Aertse, Campaign Marketing Manager at KLM.
The first of its kind, Ask Atlas has over 60,000 AI-generated travel tips.
“Ask Atlas is truly about ‘your’ reasons to travel. It marks the beginning of very personalized content, giving something for everyone to discover,” Aertse added.
How ‘Ask Atlas’ works
Visitors to the Ask Atlas platform will choose from a series of images and answer a series of questions, so the platform will learn of their travel preferences. Then, using knowledge gathered from KLM’s 104 years of travel expertise, and the help of generative AI, Atlas can assemble unique travel recommendations, created specially for the person using the platform.
According to Timo Wilbrink, creative director at Born05, the goal is to enable potential travellers to make intuitive choices guided by beautiful content.
“The recommended destinations must feel personal and surprising, and the entire experience must be a joy to interact with,” said Wilbrink.
KLM and Born05 have over 15 years of collaboration, including the development of iFly Magazine, KLM’s digital travel magazine.
On his part, Sjors van Hoof, head of ACE Ai Studio, said Ask Atlas represents the future of travel inspiration.
“With the help of Ai, KLM can execute top-level content campaigns; we make the variety and scale of the content manageable, personal, and on-brand. A great and concrete application of generative AI.”
