Greece’s GNTO Named Best Tourist Board Partner for 2023 by UK Tour Operators
The British-based travel industry trade group, AITO – The Specialist Travel Association recently recognized the UK branch of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) as its Tourist Board Partner of the Year 2023.
Established in 1976, AITO represents around 120 specialist and independent tour operators in the UK that offer travel packages abroad with an emphasis on quality and personalized service.
The GNTO received the award following a voting process among AITO’s members. the Spanish Tourism Board Turespaña came in second and was followed by Portuguese Turismo de Portugal in third place.
The award ceremony took place on April 18 in London during AITO’s annual general meeting with the participation of 100 members of the association. The GNTO’s award was received by the organization’s head of the UK & Ireland branch, Eleni Skarveli. The GNTO was awarded following years of collaboration with AITO members in the areas of sustainability, networking and synergies.
AITO last November held its annual conference in Thessaloniki with the support of the GNTO, the Central Macedonia Region, the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization (TTO) and the Thessaloniki Convention Bureau (TCB). Around 120 delegates and some of the UK’s leading travel journalists participated.
The UK is one of the leading inbound tourist markets in Greece.
According to feedback collected by the GNTO during the “Destinations: The Holiday and Travel Show 2024” held recently in London, travelers from the UK are showing a strong interest for travel to Greece this year.
