Celebrity Infinity Calls in Thessaloniki with Over 1,600 Passengers
Celebrity Cruises’ “Infinity” ship on Tuesday called at the port of Thessaloniki for the fourth time this year.
The cruise line has booked a total of 20 calls to Thessaloniki this year, up 230 percent from six in 2023. Seven of the calls include an overnight stay and a 28-hour stay in the city.
On Tuesday, the Celebrity Infinity and its over 1,600 passengers, mostly British, Americans and Canadians, stayed overnight, allowing passengers and crew to explore its rich culture, gastronomy and vibrant nightlife, as well as the great architectural, archaeological and historical sites of the city and the wider region.
“The continuous upgrading of the port’s infrastructure and services solidifies the trust of companies like Celebrity Cruises,” the Thessaloniki Port Authority (ThPA) said in an announcement.
Guests tour the Celebrity Infinity
During the Celebrity Infinity’s stay in the port, a tour of the ship took place as part of an event held by local local and national cruise stakeholders to promote the destination’s experiences and hospitality.
During the tour, guests were informed about the services and options provided by Celebrity Cruises.
A company representative informed on the readiness and efficiency that the Port of Thessaloniki demonstrates to the needs to cruise ship while discussions revolved around joint initiatives and actions aimed to promote Thessaloniki as a cruise destination, fostering the socioeconomic growth of the city and the broader region of Northern Greece.
Cruise season began early in Thessaloniki
This year’s cruise season in Thessaloniki started on February 3, earlier than ever before. According to officials, this year some 80 cruise ship arrivals are expected.
“This confirms the dynamic growth of cruise in the destination and allows us all to share our rich heritage with visitors from all over the world,” the Deputy Minister of Interior for Macedonia – Thrace, Stathis Konstantinidis, said during the event.
“With 18 monuments inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List and over 30 museums, archaeological sites and other attractions, including but not limited to, the Archaeological Site and the Polycentric Museum of Aigai, the Archaeological Site of Dion and Mount Olympus, Thessaloniki and the broader region offer, today, unique travel experiences to visitors.”
The Celebrity Infinity arrived in Thessaloniki from its homeport in Piraeus as part of the ship’s 12-day cruise.
Calling at 7 ports, the ship will include stops at the destinations of Kusadasi, Limassol, Rhodes, Crete and Nafplio before returning to Piraeus.
