According to an announcement, the bilateral codeshare agreement between the German low-cost airline and the Greek flag carrier will offer passengers a growing range of direct connections to popular tourism destinations in Greece and Germany.

Selected flights operated by AEGEAN will also be bookable under Eurowings flight numbers, while the German airline’s flights will also be available under AEGEAN flight numbers and marketed via the partner airline’s respective channels.
In a first step, Aegean will assign its (A3) code to direct flights operated by Eurowings connecting Heraklion (Crete) and Thessaloniki with Eurowings’ bases in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. According to the announcement, the plan of both airlines is to gradually expand the joint route offering.
“The cooperation is part of our European growth strategy and strengthens our position as the largest German leisure airline,” said Jens Bischof, Eurowings CEO.
He added that the agreement with AEGEAN came at “exactly the right time”, as Eurowings is currently recording the strongest incoming bookings in four years. “Α clear indication of how strongly the market will develop in the 2024 travel summer,” Bischof said.
