Greece Leading the Way in Yacht Charter Availability
Greece is a leading country in terms of yacht charter availability and specifically with an increasing demand for catamaran charters, found a report released this week by yachting experts Riginos.
More specifically, according to the data, 2,580 vessels were available for charter in Greece in 2023, 740 of which catamarans. Next up was Croatia with 2,100 available watercraft, 505 of which catamarans.
Top areas in Greece in terms of yacht availability according to the report are Athens with 920 vessels with the Alimos and Lavrion marinas as key hubs, followed by the Ionian islands and 850 yachts mainly from Lefkada, Corfu and Preveza.
Source markets supporting the yachting segment in 2023 in Greece were Germany, France, England, Slovakia, Austria and the US with Israel also gaining ground.
“From 2022 onwards, we are seeing a trend towards catamaran type boats over monohulls. The market consists mainly of tourists looking for a high level of service. It’s worth noting that a catamaran is chartered 19 weeks a year on average. This figure depends on both the charter location and the going price,” said Marilena Vetta, chartering manager at Riginos Yachts.
Lastly, according to Riginos, an average price for a yacht rental without a crew starts at 3,000 euros per week for eight people.
Riginos has been active in yachting since 1983, offering a wide range of services, including representation of foreign shipyards in Greece, buying and selling used boats, charters and boat management.
