Athens Half Marathon 2024 to Take Place on March 10
The Athens Half Marathon, organized by the Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS) with the cooperation of the City of Athens Sports, Culture and Youth Organization (OPANDA), will take place on Sunday, March 10, in the Greek Capital.
Details on the event were discussed in a recent meeting at the Municipality of Athens between Athens Mayor Haris Doukas and SEGAS’ president, Sofia Sakorafa; first vice-president, Kostas Kenteris; and general manager, Sotiris Kyranakos
A major event for the city, the Athens Half Marathon this year will be dedicated to the memory of the late Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis.
During the meeting, Mayor Doukas expressed his interest for the cooperation between the municipality and SEGAS to strengthen with more collaborations of social and environmental interest and joint sports activities.
“The Athens Half Marathon is a major celebration dedicated to sports, social solidarity and international friendship,” the mayor said, adding that the event is an annual meeting point for runners from Athens and the whole world, who run for a unique experience.
The Athens Half Marathon annually sees a large participation from Athenian citizens. This year’s event will include the half marathon, with participation limit 7.500 runners; the OPAP 5km Road Race, with participation limit 10,000 runners; and the Family Run, with participation limit 1,500 runners (750 children and 750 adults).
Registrations for the Athens Half Marathon 2024 event opened on January 10. As announced by SEGAS, individual registrations will open on Tuesday, January 24, at noon.
During the meeting, the city’s mayor was also updated on the federation’s plans for the 2024 edition of the “Athens Marathon. The Authentic” that will take place in Athens on November 10.
