Aiming to develop the skills of Thessaloniki’s tourism professionals, the Greek city’s tourism organization recently signed a memorandum of cooperation with the University of the Aegean.
Signed with the university’s Department of Tourism Economics and Management, the memorandum is part of the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization’s efforts to develop synergies with tourism bodies and the academic community to strengthen the city’s appeal and attract more visitors.
According to an announcement, the aim of the collaboration is to explore good practices in the field of tourism with a focus on the upskill and reskill of employees in digital, green and social areas.
“The exchange of know-how and good practices with bodies at European and national level is certain to work in favor of the destination,” the organization’s president and Deputy Governor of the Metropolitan Area of Thessaloniki, Voula Patoulidou, said.
Through the new collaboration, Thessaloniki’s tourism organization will be part of a large network of universities, tourism bodies and research centers from 11 European countries.
