Greek Airports See All-time Record in Passenger Traffic and Flights
Passenger traffic at all Greek airports during the first 11 months of the year recorded an “all-time record”, with an increase of almost ten percent compared to the full-year result of 2022, the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA) said on Friday.
Citing provisional data of November 2023 and January-November 2023 for all airports of Greece, the HCAA said there is a record increase in passenger traffic and flights, compared to the corresponding periods of both 2022 and 2019.
More specifically, after analyzing the provisional data, HCAA said an “all-time record” was recorded at the country’s airports as it appears that passenger traffic during January-November 2023 topping 2022 full-year results by 9.6 percent.
The January-November 2023 period saw 69,771,387 passengers handled at Greek airports against 63,672,121, which was the total amount of passengers in the year 2022.
November and Jan-Nov passenger traffic
Greek airports in November recorded an increase in passenger traffic by 23.5 percent compared to 2022 and by 12.7 percent compared to 2019, as 2,925,746 passengers were handled in 2023 against 2,369,079 in 2022 and 2,596,285 in 2019.
Also, during the first 11 months of the year, the total number of passengers in Greek airports (arrivals and departures of foreign and domestic passengers), reached 69,771,387, compared to 61,229,394 in the corresponding period of 2022 and 61,665,799 passengers in 2019.
According to the data, passenger traffic at Greek airports during January-November increased by 14 percent compared to 2022 and by 13.1 percent compared to 2019.
November and Jan-Nov flights
Regarding flights (domestic and international aircraft arrivals and departures), the HCAA said there were 24,842 flights this November, compared to 23,218 in 2022 and 23,774 flights in 2019, with air traffic increasing by 7 percent, compared to 2022 and by 4.5 percent compared to 2019.
Flight statistics for the first 11 months of the year showed that a total of 537,172 flights operated, compared to 528,292 in 2022 and 502,646 flights in 2019. Air traffic during January-November 2023 was up by 1.7 percent compared to by 2022 and by 6.9 percent compared to 2019.
