Discover the World Welcomes Dimitris Karagkioules as New Head for Greece and Cyprus
Discover the World, an innovative sales representation company in the travel industry with a worldwide network of 85 offices in more than 60 countries, recently announced changes to its operations in Greece and Cyprus.
In a letter to travel agencies in both countries, Discover the World informed that Dino Frantzeskakis was retiring as head of its Greek branch, Discover Greece, after more than 33 years of outstanding contributions to the company.
Discover’s new Greece & Cyprus operation will be based in central Athens (9, Feidiou Street) under the guidance of travel industry professional Dimitris Karagkioules. who has taken on the position of Country Manager for Greece and Cyprus,
“Dimitris brings a wealth of experience to Discover, latterly as Country Manager for Etihad, where he won the GM of the Year award in 2014, as well as stints with United Airlines and Delta,” Discover the World said.
Dimitris brings to Discover the World more than 25 years’ commercial management experience gained at the three airlines, to the role. During those years he held sales and marketing roles in Europe and Asia.
Commenting on his new role, Dimitris told GTP Headlines: “It is with pride, honor and great pleasure to be appointed by Discover the World to lead the team in Greece and Cyprus under the capacity of the Country Manager. After servicing the airline industry for almost 35 years in Greece and abroad, my appointment by Discover the World, feels like the natural step in my career.”
Dimitris will lead a team providing sales and support services across Discover the World’s client base which includes Aeromexico, Air Malta, Air New Zealand, Air Transat, Condor, GOL, Royal Brunei, Virgin Atlantic and Expedia TAAP.
“My team and I are confident that we will reach new heights of success and are looking forward to work with the Greek and Cypriot markets,” he said.
Discover the World’s Greek branch, Discover Greece, was established by Dino Frantzeskakis in July 1992. Throughout his tenure, Frantzeskakis had been an influential member of Discover the World’s global network as well as providing exemplary sales and support services to the Greek travel industry on behalf of the company’s clients.
It is noted that Frantzeskakis won Discover’s coveted Director of the Year Award in 2003.
