Thessaloniki Smart Card Presented at Philoxenia 2023 Tourism Fair
As part of ongoing efforts to facilitate and enhance the traveler experience, the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization (TTO) presented the “Thessaloniki Pass”, the first destination smart card during the 38th Philoxenia International Tourism Exhibition held in the northern port city last weekend.
The Thessaloniki Pass, created by the Thessaloniki Tourism Blockchain with the support of the TTO, will offer users easily accessible information to the city and its services, products, where to get discounts, and which providers apply sustainable practices, among others.
The card, currently ready for Android, will be available once finalized online as “Thessaloniki Blockchain” and is scheduled to be launched by the end of the year. Users will be able to download the card for free.
The TTO participated in this year’s Philoxenia under the umbrella of the Central Macedonia Region. Representatives met with hosted buyers, held B2B meetings and organized tours of the city.
During the exhibition, the TTO presented a new photo album dedicated to the Greek city named “Metropolitan Unity of Thessaloniki: Mosaic of Cultures”.
Additionally, the organization was awarded by fedHATTA for its work on the sidelines of the exhibition and co-organized the Philoxenia Forum 2023 which focused on the circular economy, overtourism and climate change. Deputy Regional Governor of Metropolitan Thessaloniki and TTO President Voula Patoulidou was a speaker at the forum.
“Thessaloniki has proven so far that it can manage tourism for the benefit of the economy, businesses and above all, for its residents,” she said.
The Greek Travel Pages (GTP) was a communication sponsor for the Philoxenia expo.
