Paros to Show its Best at Tourism Exhibitions in Key Markets
The Municipality of Paros announced that it will attend a series of tourism trade shows and events during November and December as part of a strategy to promote the island in key markets and attract more visitors.
The municipality’s first stop in November will be the World Travel Market expo in London where it will exhibit the best of Paros and also attend B2B meetings with international tourism professionals. The Greek island will also receive extra publicity during WTM London due to its inclusion in a special English-language publication – titled “The Treasures of Greek Tourism” – of Naftemporiki financial newspaper. The publication will be distributed to exhibitors and visitors during the exhibition.
Later that month, representatives from the Municipality of Paros will attend the Philoxenia trade show in Thessaloniki and then a special workshop in Ghent, Belgium (November 26).
In December, the municipality’s representatives plan to exhibit at the Athens International Tourism & Culture Expo in Athens and attend a B2B event in Warsaw, Poland (December 12).
“Our participation in all these tourism trade events aims to highlight our island’s multidimensional character and its rich and diverse offerings,” Paros Mayor Markos Kovaios. said in an announcement.
As part of its strategy to promote the island in key tourism markets, the Municipality of Paros in October took part in the IFTM Top Resa event in Paris and gave a dedicated presentation to travel agents in Johannesburg. The primary objective was to strengthen the island’s appeal to the French market and expand to the South African market.
The very last thing Paros needs is more tourists. The island is already overrun and has almost lost all its cultural heritage.
The town council is permitting unlimited building which only exacerbates the situation. No attempt has been made to improve the infrastructure in the past decade.
Who benefits from increased tourism? No one.
