Greece: Prebookings Strong for October 28 Holiday Weekend
Prebookings for the October 28 OXI Day national holiday weekend are on the rise in Greece, with strong demand this year for winter destinations mainly in Arcadia in the Peloponnese.
More specifically, reservations for Dimitsana, Vytina and Stemnitsa for the three-day weekend are at 95 percent, 85 percent and 95 percent respectively, with going rates for the three days from 310 euros to 705 euros for full apartments.
Analysts expect occupancy levels at most of the popular destinations to reach 85 to 95 percent, similar to last year’s levels. Prebookings under review concern listed short-term Airbnb-style rentals in these areas and not hotels.
Other favorite destinations for the October 28 weekend include Arachova which marked a 10 percent rise in short-term rental listings, Ioannina (+28 percent), Karpenisi (+25 percent), Kalamata (+10 percent), and Kastoria, (39 percent).
Indicatively, occupancy levels in Arachova are set to exceed 70 percent with rates starting at 353 euros for full apartments; at 65 percent in Metsovo with prices starting from 250 euros; in Kalavryta at 84 percent with rates starting at 379 euros; in Karpenisi reaching 75 percent with prices starting at 255 euros; in Ioannina at 81 percent with prices at around 216 euros; in Kalamata at 65 percent with going rates starting at 100 euros; Nafplio at 50 percent with prices starting at 170 euros; and in Nafpaktos at 62 percent with rates from 190 euros.
