Royal Caribbean Reveals Name of Next ‘Icon’ Class Cruise Ship: ‘Star of the Seas’
Royal Caribbean International recently revealed the name of the next Icon Class cruise ship: “Star of the Seas”.
According to the cruise line, the ship will offer cruise travelers their next “revolutionary vacation”.
Following the debut of “Icon of the Seas”, Royal Caribbean is set to unveil the “Star of the Seas” in less than 100 days, marking it as the go-to vacation destination for the summer of 2025.
According to the cruise line, the Icon Class lineup represents a revolutionary shift in vacation experiences, encompassing beachfront retreats, luxury resort getaways, and thrilling theme park adventures. “Star of the Seas” is poised to continue this trend with a wide range of new experiences, pushing the boundaries of cruising.
“The concept of merging various vacation types into one ultimate adventure has generated unprecedented excitement. ‘Star of the Seas’ is our bold answer to the record-breaking consumer demand we’ve witnessed since the introduction of Icon of the Seas,” said Royal Caribbean International President and CEO Michael Bayley.
“Icon of the Seas”, introduced in October 2022, led to a historic surge in bookings, becoming the cruise line’s largest single booking day and highest volume booking week ever. This demand prompted Royal Caribbean to release 2025-2026 vacation plans for Icon three months ahead of schedule, along with the announcement of ‘Star of the Seas.’
“Icon of the Seas” offers a unique lineup of attractions, featuring record-breaking waterslides, pools, a family-friendly neighborhood, diverse entertainment options, and numerous dining venues. ‘Star of the Seas’ is expected to follow suit, catering to various tastes and preferences.
In line with Royal Caribbean’s commitment to environmental sustainability, “Star of the Seas” will be the cruise line’s third ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), combining clean-burning marine fuel with advanced environmental programs onboard. This marks a significant step in the journey toward introducing a net-zero emission cruise ship by 2035.
Currently under construction in Turku, Finland, the “Star of the Seas” new ship and its features will soon be revealed.
