Greece’s national exhibitor TIF-Helexpo recently welcomed a delegation from the city of Ruian, China, at the Thessaloniki International Exhibition Center, and discussed ways to boost economic and business relations between the two countries.
Led by Ying Xike, director of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of Ruian, the delegation met with TIF-Helexpo representatives to discuss the participation of Chinese companies in TIF-Helexpo exhibitions such as Agrotica, the international exhibition for agricultural machinery, equipment and material; and Philoxenia, the city’s annual tourism fair.
According to Xike, there is a strong interest among Chinese businesses to establish partnerships with their Greek and Balkan counterparts. He also noted that Greek companies could also participate in similar exhibitions in China.
The delegation from Ruian City, an industrial and commercial urban center with a population of 1.1 million, was also joined by representatives from the Ruian Investment Promotion Service Center, the Ruian Agriculture and Countryside Bureau, and the Ruian Municipal People’s Government Office.
According to TIF-Helexpo, the development of economic and investment relations with China is a constant aim in TIF-Helexpo’s strategy for boosting international relations. It is noted that China was the honored country at the 82nd Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) in 2017.
The delegation’s visit comes at a time when Greece is seeking to attract more Chinese investment. In recent years, China has become one of Greece’s largest trading partners.
The two countries have also signed a number of agreements, and recently held bilateral meetings to strengthen collaborations in the fields of tourism and culture.
