Ilisia Park in Athens Gets Revamp, Playground Equipment Upgrade
Children and toddlers in Athens now have a new colorful and exciting space for recreation at the revamped playground of the park in the Ilisia neighborhood in the Greek capital.
Following an extensive renovation by the Municipality of Athens, the improved playground features a variety of play equipment, including a metal swing with toddler seats, a double tower house with an accessible staircase, a multi-seater seesaw, slides and a fireman’s pole. The play area includes a system of multi-functional areas for toddlers with a climbing structure and hammock.
Long-awaited improvements of the playground include a metal fence and a safe floor (certified by an accredited inspection body) to protect young visitors from injury.
“Children’s creativity and imagination can flourish in this renovated space in Ilisia,” said Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis, adding that the upgraded area will offer children a pleasant experience and an opportunity to socialize and develop their skills.
The playground is located at the corner of Oumblianis and Dioharous streets and is open to the public from 9am to 10pm during the summer period and from 9am to 7pm during winter time.
In addition to the playground upgrade, municipal services also installed new benches, waste bins and information signs at the Ilisia Park.
