Elafonisos: Photo Competition Launched to Promote Tourism
The Municipality of Elafonisos has launched a photo competition to promote tourism on the island.
Titled “Elafonisos through your eyes,” the competition invites visitors to use their photographic lens to capture the island’s protected species, cultural hotspots and pristine beaches that they experienced while on vacation on the island.
All photographs collected during the contest may be used as visual content for any future promotional actions the municipality plans to run.
“Our new initiative aims to bring us closer to our islands’ visitors,” said Elafonisos Mayor Efi Liarou, adding that the photo contest will make participants will feel that they are part of “their beloved destination’s promotion”.
Photos and applications should be sent to web@elafonisos.gov.gr or dimos@elafonisos.gov.gr until September 8. Participation is possible in all three categories (protected species, areas of cultural interest, beaches) but only with one photo in each.
The photos will be judged by a three-member jury consisting of photographers Antonis Anomitris, Charalambos Mentis and Anastasia Roumani. Photos with two nods will qualify to the next round where only photo with three nods will be nominated for each category’s prize.
Winners will get the chance to travel to Elafonisos and spend two days on the South Peloponnese island for free while the competition’s results, which is overseen by Deputy Mayor Katerina Mendi will be announced on the municipal website on September 10.
The photo competition is a great way for visitors to showcase their love for Elafonisos and to help promote the island to others. The competition is open to all people aged over 18, and the prizes are sure to be a draw for talented photographers.
