A number of Greek islands were among the big winners of Travel + Leisure (T+L) magazine’s recent announcement of its annual World’s Best Awards.
The 28th edition of the awards revealed the finest travel destinations and tourism businesses worldwide based on the findings of the 2023 World’s Best Awards’ reader survey.
Based on a score of 92.47 Paros was named the 11th (World) and 3rd (Europe) most favorite island for 2023.
With a score of 89.51 Santorini was named the 8th most favorite European island on the 25 Favorite Islands in the World of 2023 list.
Greece dominated this list with a total of seven entries.
T+L’s 2023 World’s Best Awards also saw a number of Greek hotels and resorts, international hospitality brands operating in Greece and travel companies get multiple mentions.
Readers of T + L voted Madeira, Portugal as Europe’s favorite island for 2023 and the Great Barrier Reef Islands, Australia, as the world’s favorite for this year.

In order to compile the 25 Favorite Islands in the World of 2023 and the 15 Favorite Islands in Europe of 2023 lists, the magazine’s readers were asked to rate some of the world’s most popular islands based on criteria such as natural attractions/beaches; activities/sights; restaurants/food; people/friendliness and value.
