Mykonos Upgrades Tourist Experience with New Smart Sign System
Visitors to Mykonos will be able to learn more about the popular island and get around easier thanks to a new smart sign system now in place.
The Mykonos Port Authority in collaboration with the municipality, Five Senses Consulting, Sky Maps and WISIE presented this week the new initiative dubbed “Mykonos Smart Signs Project”.
The new interactive system includes 10 signs from the port to the old town which use QR and NFC technology and provide information in five languages on the island’s history, culture, gastronomy, local products and activities while directing visitors to relevant local businesses.
Local authorities said the project is aimed at enhancing the guest experience, helping cruise passengers explore the island and strengthening the bond between travelers and the destination.
“Mykonos is much more than a beautiful global destination. It’s packed with hidden treasures, exciting experiences and a vibrant local culture. The Mykonos Smart Signs Project will serve as a gateway for visitors to discover the many facets of our island,” said Mykonos Mayor Konstantinos Koukas.

Commenting on the project, Mykonos Port Authority President Dimitris Manesis said it is aimed at enhancing the visitor experience by “opening doors to what Mykonos really offers, inspiring travelers to explore the island more”.
Lastly, Ioannis Bras, CEO of Five Senses, the company that developed the system, said “it creates a ‘state of mind’, immersing visitors into the beauty of Mykonos and guiding them to its unknown treasures.”
