Eastern Halkidiki – Lebanon Team Up for Tourism
Eastern Halkidiki has reached out to the Lebanese market aiming to boost tourist flows, the region’s Aristotle Municipality announced this week.
More specifically, Eastern Halkidiki destinations will be included in travel packages on offer in Lebanon with a focus on wine tourism, hiking, religious tourism, culture, recreation, leisure and shopping, the municipality said following a fam trip it organized in collaboration with travel group Mideast.
Outgoing manager for Beirut-based Tania Travel Fernardo Bijiani, said he enjoyed the Greek Easter experiences, the foods and traditions, during a five-day fam trip organized in Eastern Halkidiki for Orthodox Easter which included a trip to Mt Athos and was targeted at the Lebanese market.
The fam trip is part of the municipality’s strategy to reach out to new markets.
“Fernando Bijiani’s visit to Eastern Halkidiki inaugurates a significant cooperation with Lebanon, which has been prepared for the last year and a half through press visits and networking events,” said the municipality.
According to the statement, Tania Travel will be including in its catalogs leisure and shopping holiday programs, as well as cultural, pilgrimage, walking and wine holiday packages. The Lebanese tour operator specializes in trips from Lebanon to Greece and offers charter flights.
Aristotle Mayor Stelios Valianos said a new fam trip was being organized in collaboration with travel group Mideast for September focused on the sacred harvest of Athos and aimed at attracting wine tourism, special interest and faith tourism targeted at the Malta, Corsica, Cyprus, Lebanon and Sicily markets.
“This is a strategic plan moving forward according to strict schedules,” said Valianos, adding that more tourism partnerships were in the pipeline.
