Greek Hotels Shine on Travel + Leisure 2023 It List
Three Greek hotels have made it onto Travel + Leisure‘s recently announced It List, which features the 100 best new and renovated hotels worldwide.
The list, running its 18th edition this year, includes properties across six continents, with 35 hotels in North America, 32 in Europe, 13 in the Caribbean and Central and South America, 10 in Africa and the Middle East, eight in Asia and two in Australia.
The hotels span 37 countries and are selected based on Travel + Leisure’s editors’ visits and reviews.
The final list covers various categories, including beach getaways, affordable luxury, wellness resorts, and luxury city hotels.
Among the three Greek hotels to make the 2023 It list cut was Cali Mykonos, located on the island’s southeastern side.
Travel +Leisure editor Travis Levius hailed the hotel’s “seclusion and low-key luxury” while also mentioning that Cali’s guests can enjoy a Mediterranean menu overseen by acclaimed Greek chef Lefteris Lazarou or get “insider access to some of Mykonos’ best beach clubs” thanks to the hotel’s concierge team.
The second Greek property included in the It Lists was Cosme, a Luxury Collection Resort, a 40-suite beachfront boutique hotel on Paros.
The resort, which offers an open-air concept shop, and private plunge pools positioned to frame the Aegean, was praised by Travel +Leisure’s editor Lane Nieset for its infinity pool and private beach club, the first ever for a hotel on the island.
The third Greek hotel included in the list, was Xenodocheio Milos which opened in early 2022 in Athens.
Located in the center of the Greek capital, the hotel focuses on food as its main attraction. Travel + Leisure editor Flora Stubbs mentions than even the hotel’s “simply elegant” rooms are “named after Greek olive oil producers” with Milos being helmed by its founder Costas Spiliadis as the first “luxurious gastronomy hotel” in Greece.
