Epirus One of the ‘Most Welcoming Regions on Earth’ for 2023
Epirus in northwestern Greece has been recognized as one of the Most Welcoming Regions on Earth for 2023, according to Booking.com’s recently announced Traveller Review Awards list.
Running for the 11th consecutive year, the famous online travel and accommodation platform’s awards act as an annual appreciation program that recognizes Booking.com’s partners for their exceptional hospitality, as demonstrated by the review scores travelers leave after their stays or experiences.
“These awards are our way of thanking our partners for their dedication to making everyone feel welcome and to going out of their way to create incredible experiences for our customers,” said , SVP and Chief Marketing Officer for Booking.com.
Taking into consideration the share of accommodations receiving a Traveller Review Award 2023 when compared to the total amount of eligible properties in a city or region, the platform also compiled two lists: 2023’s Most Welcoming Cities On Earth and 2023’s Most Welcoming Regions On Earth.
Epirus got the 2nd position in the 2023’s Most Welcoming Regions On Earth list with La Rioja, Spain winning the top spot and Oberosterreich, Austria, County Down, UK and Mures, Romania rounding up the top 5.
Following the announcement, the Ioannina Region Hotel Association issued a statement and said local hoteliers are “thrilled” with Epirus’ recognition by Booking.com.
“We hope that it will encourage more people to visit our beautiful area,” the association said, promising that the local hospitality stakeholders will continue to strive to provide the best experience for their guests and maintain a high level of satisfaction.
Polignano a Mare, Italy was named 2023’s Most Welcoming City On Earth, according to the awards.
Overall, based on a pool of over 240 million verified customer reviews on Booking.com, 1,364,415 accommodation partners, 230 car rental providers and 58 airport taxi suppliers around the world received a Traveller Review Award in 2023.
Italy led the way again in 2023 with a total of 170,638 accommodation awards, followed by Spain (108,217), France (103,365), Germany (76,479), Croatia (64,206), Poland (60,721), UK (60,697), Greece (54,473), Brazil (53,658) and the US (46,839).
Car rental companies in Spain managed the top spot with the most 2023 awards (23), followed by Greece (21), France (14), Italy (13) and Portugal (11).
For the sixth year in a row, apartments were the most-awarded accommodation type globally, and nearly 1 in 10 accommodation award recipients were recognized for their sustainable efforts.
