September Movie Nights at Athens’ Revived AB Cinema

After a successful season full of summer movie nights, Athens’ AB open air cinema will continue operating until mid-September, according to an announcement by the Municipality of Athens.

AB was re-introduced to Athenians this summer after its revival by the municipality in 2021.

Located in Ano Patisia, the historic movie theater during September 3-17 will hold 11 movie nights for cinema lovers and host an open air painting workshop event for children.

More specifically, the City of Athens Technopolis, in collaboration with the Athens International Children’s Film Festival, the Industrial Gas Museum, Trianon, Cinobo and the Ιn-edit Greece will present 11 unique films.

Among them are recent releases such as Luca and Le Tresor du Petit Nicolas (2021); as well as classics including One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975); Coffee and Cigarettes (2003); Down by Law (1986) and others.

In addition, AB will host a children’s workshop titled “Our Cinema”, organized by Technopolis’ Industrial Gas Museum.

The initiative is part of “Culture in Athens”, a three-year program aiming to upgrade and promote the Greek capital’s cultural events as well as actively support local artists and culture workers.

The AB cinema theater is located on 36, Theotokopoulou street in Ano Patisia.
