Inside the Divani Palace Acropolis Hotel in Athens

Following the complete revamp of 52 executive rooms, the Divani Palace Acropolis hotel in Athens recently gave Greek journalists the grand tour of its premises.

The first hotel of the Divani Collection Hotels hospitality group in the Greek capital, the Divani Palace Acropolis first opened its doors in 1976 at a priceless location right by the world-famous Acropolis and its museum and in close distance to a number of cultural sites and hotspots of the Greek capital.

The 250-room hotel offers a number of room types, including standard, superior, premier suites, rooms with Acropolis view and connecting rooms.

The hotel’s latest renovation, which began last October and finished earlier this year, saw the complete revamp of 52 executive rooms, highlighting the timeless character of the hotel with a new contemporary look.

Characterized by a modern and elegant style, the revamped rooms offer a warm, relaxing environment of “earthy” colors (the brown color of the wood) combined with new lighting.

“We are very happy to welcome our guests in our new modern rooms, which include all the amenities one would expect to see in a hotel today,” the hotel’s manager, Dimitris Arvanitis, said.

In addition, the Divani Palace Acropolis is now home to two new spacious family suites, ideally designed to accommodate 2 adults and 2 children with high quality services.

“As a family business, the Divani group fully understands the needs of families for comfortable travel and hospitality,” Arvanitis added.

Following the tour of the revamped rooms, the Greek journalists had the chance to see the hotels’ facilities for meetings, business conferences and special events.

“Although we are known for our leisure offering, the Divani Palace Acropolis is also the ideal venue for company gatherings. Our meeting rooms have the best high-tech features and amenities, designed to support our guests’ business requirements,” Arvanitis informed.

History is in the palm of your hands

Perhaps one of the most impressive meeting rooms of the hotel is the one that offers a fascinating view of part of the ancient Themistocles Wall which the hotel has on exhibit.

The hotel also has a health center and an outdoor swimming pool with a bar that offers a rich choice of refreshments and cocktails.

Wine and dine at the Acropolis Secret roof garden restaurant

It’s not an exaggeration to say that the hotel’s Acropolis Secret restaurant offers a unique dining experience in Athens.

A roof garden bar and a full service restaurant in summer, the Acropolis Secret offers an amazing view over to the renowned Acropolis. Here, hotel guests, as well as non-guests, can enjoy original flavors of Greek cuisine with a modern twist, drinks and cocktails. All dishes at the Acropolis Secret include Greek ingredients, carefully sourced by local producers across the country.

It should be mentioned that the Acropolis Secret was recently included in the Top 10 Rooftop Bars in Europe by the mrq.com blog due to its ambiance, level of service and quality of food.

Bookings are up for summer 2022

The revamping of the rooms in the Divani Palace Acropolis comes some two years after what’s been a tough period for the industry due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the hotel’s manager, Dimitris Arvanitis, in terms of this year’s bookings, the Divani Palace Acropolis expects to reach 75 to 80 percent of 2019 levels.

“Following a difficult year (2021) and being a city hotel, it is difficult to surpass the numbers of 2019 this year. However, the messages we are receiving for the season are very positive and we are more than ready to welcome visitors to Athens, considering the Russia-Ukraine situation does not cause a disruption,” Arvanitis told GTP Headlines.

The top markets of the Divani Palace Acropolis this year include the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia and Canada.

“Although our clientele was mainly from Europe and Asia (pre-Covid), since last year the majority of our visitors are coming from the US due to the many direct flights to Greece that are now available from various American cities,” Arvanitis said, adding that the hotel is also aiming to attract more domestic visitors as well.

“Due to our privileged location and our top notch services, we are certain that we can be the ideal selection for Greek leisure and business visitors,” he said.

One of the top luxury hotel chains in Greece with a history of over 60 years and with a variety of 7 hotels, the hospitality offered by the Divani Collection Hotels is characterized by luxury, comfort and quality service.

In Athens, hotels of the Divani group include the Divani Palace Acropolis and the Divani Caravel. The presence of Divani Collection Hotels is also seen on the Athenian Riviera with the Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso and the Divani Apollon Suites, as well as on the islands of Corfu, in the town of Meteora and in the city of Larissa.
