Greece’s Tourism Minister Kikilias Heads Delegation to Izmir 

Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias will head a delegation from Greece in Izmir to attend the 4th session of the Joint Committee on Tourism and the 9th Greece-Turkey Tourism Forum, which will be held from today until November 18.

It is noted that the last session of the Joint Committee on Tourism and the Forum took place in Athens in October 2011.

The agenda of the Joint Committee on Tourism will include issues related to the current situation regarding Covid-19 and the exchange of experience on health protocols in the tourism sector; the exchange of know-how and practical knowledge in areas of common interest; and talks on cooperation in the field of maritime and cruise tourism.

On Wednesday, November 17, Kikilias will have a private meeting with the Turkish minister of culture and tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, during which issues of bilateral interest in the tourism sector are expected to be discussed.

The Greek delegation includes the Ambassador of Greece to Turkey Michalis Diamesis, the Secretary General of Tourism Policy and Development Vicky Loizou, the Secretary General of Primary Health Care of the Ministry of Health Marios Themistokleous of Greece, the Consul General Greece George Filiopoulos, the President of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels Alexandros Vassilikos, the President of the Hellenic Hoteliers Federation Grigoris Tasios, and the President of the Federation of Hellenic Associations of Tourist & Travel Agencies (fedHATTA) Lysandros Tsilidis.

The delegation also includes the Rector of the University of the Aegean Chrysi Vitsilaki, who will head of a group of Greek academics; officials of the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Tourism and Shipping; and representatives of Greek companies active in tourism.
