Renovated Electra Palace Thessaloniki Opens its Doors

The historic Electra Palace Thessaloniki hotel on Friday, July 17, reopened its doors and is ready to welcome back guests from all over the world and the people of Thessaloniki.

A member of Electra Hotels & Resorts Group, the luxury hotel first opened on Aristotelous Square in 1972 and is considered a timeless landmark of the city.

Having closed down on January 23 to undergo a complete renovation, the Electra Palace Thessaloniki has now reopened renewed, upgraded and fully functional in record time during the unprecedented period. “We feel proud that we managed, in a very short time, through a period of lockdown and extreme conditions, to bring back to the city of Thessaloniki a true gem,” Yiannis Retsos, CEO of Electra Hotels & Resorts Group and President of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), said.

According to the hotel’s management, the building’s full renovation was a demanding process, from both a technical and architectural standpoint.

All 138 modern rooms and suites, common spaces, meeting rooms, restaurants and cafés on the roof garden, as well as the hotel lobby, were designed and rebuilt from scratch, so that the end result will fully satisfy even the most demanding expectations of guests. Along with experiencing the hotel’s top notch hospitality and new spaces, visitors can also enjoy a renewed culinary menu and relax in the roof garden while admiring the view of the Thermaic Gulf.

The hotel’s CEO highlights that the Electra Palace Thessaloniki’s complete renovation signifies a new era that both the hotel and Thessaloniki are entering.

“It’s an era in which the opening to new markets and the reshaping of the city’s tourism product will be combined with the completion of large-scale projects, such as the upgrade of the Makedonia airport. We believe that the unprecedented crisis we all face due to the Covid-19 pandemic, creates new needs and demands and will result in changes, however the positive outlook for tourism worldwide will not change in the near future,” Retsos said.

The Electra Palace Thessaloniki follows all directives and regulations as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic, adhering to the highest hygiene and safety standards to ensure the safety of its guests and its staff.
