‘Stay Safe!’ – Lipsi Mayor Sends Video Message of Support to Italy
The Municipality of Lipsi recently sent a message of solidarity to Italy – a country that is severely affected by the coronavirus pandemic – through a short video released on social media.
Lipsi is a complex of 24 small islands and six rocky islets, located north of Leros and east of Patmos in the Dodecanese.
Speaking in Italian, Lipsi Mayor Fotis Mangos in the video refers to the “strong and long-standing ties” that unite the people of Italy and the island of Lipsi. He also conveys a message of solidarity from the residents of Lipsi to the neighboring country.
“When the time comes, we will be here to embrace you. Until then, stay safe,” Mayor Mangos says.
The video has already attracted the interest of hundreds of Italian friends and potential travelers. According to the municipality, many Italians have expressed their desire to return to Greece and Lipsi this year, and “leave the bad memories behind”. The municipality said that “this is also confirmed by the residents and tourism professionals of Lipsi that are in constant communication with partners and visitors in Italy”.
The mayor’s video message has also been sent to Italian journalists and bloggers that have visited the island in the past.
