Alitalia in 2019 increased its passenger revenues by 1.7 percent and the number of long-haul travelers by 4.7 percent.

According to the airline, the growth in revenues was driven by the excellent performance of the long-haul sector which recorded an increase of 5.3 percent in 2019 compared to 2018, and 14.7 percent versus 2017.

Alitalia carried a total of 21,293,078 travelers last year. Passengers on long-haul routes increased by 4.7 percent reaching 2,849,025 in 2019, and by 12.1 percent compared to 2017.

The year was also marked by excellent on-time performance recorded by the Italian airline.

With 82.2 percent of flights landing on schedule, Alitalia in 2019 was the second most punctual airline in Europe and the seventh (from eighth the previous year) in the world.

The results were certified by Cirium, the company that acquired US data services society FlightStats.

Confirmation of the growing passenger satisfaction about Alitalia services also comes from the American monthly magazine Global Traveler that awarded Alitalia with two prestigious awards in 2019: “Best Business-Class Seat Design” (for the second consecutive year) for the comfort of Magnifica’s long-haul Business Class lie-flat seats and “Best Airline Cuisine” award (for the tenth year in a row) for the quality of the meals served onboard, paired with award-winning Italian wines.
