Amadeus Holds First ‘Airline Day’ for Greek Travel Partners

Travel technology platform Amadeus recently held a special event for its partners in Greece, aiming to inform on all the developments in the air and travel industry, as well as the trends that are set to transform the travel sector in 2018.

The event, which consisted of two special sessions addressing airlines and travel agencies, was attended by many executives of the sector, while top level Amadeus executives gave detailed speeches and presentations on a series of important industry matters.

The predominant themes in both sessions were the latest developments for NDC (New Distribution Capability) and the ways that Amadeus is preparing in order to assist its clients further, offer them the most successful scenarios and help them incorporate efficiently the changes that are coming; the various solutions that the company offers in order to cover the complex needs of its partners; and the testimonials of clients that already enjoy a fruitful partnership with Amadeus.

Christian Baillet, Director Airline Account Management Central & Southern Europe spoke about the evolution that Amadeus is undertaking, to be able to respond to and better service the changing needs of travelers. His speech also focused on the disruptions faced during the travel process and presented ways via which Amadeus technology adapts to offer the best possible travel experience to passengers.

On her part, Patricia Simillon, Head of Strategic Marketing, Airlines, noted that airlines must embark on their digital transformation, implementing a whole new range of solutions, services, operations and data analytics, with new IT tools and new platforms.

According to Simillon, in this new era, airlines are starting to transform their websites as a portal between their customers and their brand and understand how the customer’s online persona will help them communicate the best offer for the individual.

Simillon also presented the Global Airline Industry Almanac, a special edition for the airline industry, offering a retrospective view of the industry in 2017, as well as a record of the key trends for 2018. This edition will provide a reference source for key developments in the airline industry and will look at how travelers, new trends and technology are reshaping travel, as well as the important roles that all the above played in the further development and evolution of the air industry in 2017.

“This day was about sharing with our partners how Amadeus can facilitate their offer and position their brands with an omni-channel approach, at the different stages of the journey,” Eva Karamanou, General Manager Greece & Cyprus and Deputy Regional Manager Southern Europe said.

According to Karamanou, Amadeus has evolved from a traditional GDS company to now facilitate the traveler experience, providing its partners with the capability to improve that experience by personalizing the offer at the different stages of the journey with a multi-channel approach.

“Our primary goal was and remains to be close to our clients and offer solutions that will differentiate them from competition, support their growth and offer better services, as well as help them manage their operations more efficiently and increase their revenues.”
