Internet Access Now @ Greece’s Ancient Sites, Museums

Net lovers can now have access to the internet at 19 archaeological sites and museums across Greece, the Central Archaeological Council (CAC) announced this week.

The Wi-Fi accessibility via 3G/4G, sponsored by Greek mobile network operator Cosmote, will also enable visitors to the monuments and institutions to download digital tour and browsing applications.

The sites included in the program are: Akrotiri on Santorini, Delos, the Palace of the Grand Master on Rhodes, the Byzantine and Christian Museum of Athens, the National Archaeological Museum, the Acropolis, Ancient Olympia, the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion on Crete, the Acropolis of Lindos on Rhodes, Knossos on Crete, Delphi, Epidaurus, Cape Sounion, Mycenae, Spinalonga, the Royal Tombs of Aigai-Vergina, Dodona, Ancient Corinth and the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki.

As part of its social responsibility program, Cosmote will undertake the design and studies for the development of the infrastructure for the network, the installation and installation costs, supervision of operation and maintenance.
