Greece’s Social Partners Request Urgent Meeting With Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras
The representatives of Greece’s social partners (employers and trade union associations) have requested an urgent meeting with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras today to present their positions and proposals in regards to the recent developments in the country.
The Greek government has announced a “bank holiday” in effect through to Monday, July 6, in efforts to put a damper on cash being transferred abroad and prevent banks from collapsing.
“The Greek economy is in a state of suffocation and an immediate solution within Europe and the Euro must by found at all costs”, the social partners said in a joint letter sent to the PM on Monday.
The letter is signed by Theodoros Fessas, President of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV); George Kavathas, President of the Hellenic Confederation of Professionals, Craftsmen & Merchants (GSEVEE); Vassilis Korkidis, President of the National Confederation of Hellenic Commerce (ESEE); Andreas Andreadis, President of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE); and Constantine Michalos, President of the Central Union of Greek Chambers of Commerce (KEEE).
