AEGEAN Adds Special Flights to Transfer Holy Flame to Greek Destinations
AEGEAN Airlines will provide three extra aircraft (non commercial flights) to distribute the Holy Flame to as many Greek destinations as possible once it arrives in Athens from Jerusalem on Holy Saturday, April 11.
Overall, AEGEAN and Olympic Air will transfer the Holy Flame to 16 Greek destinations.
The aircraft, which will depart immediately after the arrival of the Holy Flame from Jerusalem, will cover three geographical areas: the Aegean, the Ionian and one towards Central and Eastern Greece. Flights will be chartered exclusively for the transfer of the Holy Fire to Ioannina, Corfu, Kefalonia, Zakynthos, Mykonos, Samos, Kos, Mytilini, Larissa, Alexandroupoli and Limnos.
Also, the Holy Flame will be transferred on the following scheduled flights to Heraklio, Chania, Rhodes, Santorini and Thessaloniki on Holy Saturday:
A3 320 Athens-Heraklio, departure at 18:50 and arrival at Heraklio at 19:40
A3 344 Athens-Chania, departure at 19:00 and arrival in Chania at 19:55
A3 214 Athens-Rhodes, departure at 19:00 and arrival at Rhodes at 20:00
A3 360 Athens-Santorini, departure at 19:25 and arrival in Santorini at 20:10
A3 126 Athens-Thessaloniki, departure at 19:10 and arrival in Thessaloniki at 20:05
Like every year, during the Holy Week, the cabin crew on all flights of AEGEAN and Olympic Air offer passengers Easter candles (lambades) on Holy Saturday.
