Greek Museums And Sites On New Time Schedule After Easter
The operating hours of Greek museums and archaeological sites that have heavy tourist traffic will soon be adjusted to the convenience of tourists and cruise ship passengers.
The announcement was made following a recent decision made by a committee established by Deputy Culture Minister Kostas Tzavaras.
According to reports, following the Greek Easter holiday (5 May), museums and archaeological sites that receive heavy tourist traffic will operate from 8am to 8pm.
The opening hours of other museums and sites (that receive less traffic) can be adjusted upon request of the organizers of the tours. This applies to serving tourists/cruise ship passengers that wish to visit museums and sites outside working hours.
The committee includes the president of the Hellenic Association of Travel & Tourist Agencies (HATTA), Yiorgos Telonis, cruise line representatives and Culture Ministry officials and will hold frequent meetings to prevent any problems in regards to the issue.
