Qatar Airways Expands Routes To Athens
Athens is included in Qatar Airways expansion program to improve frequencies and offer passengers additional options with the increase in the number of flights to key European capital cities, the airline announced in July.
The current Athens daily route, launched in June 2005, is planned to expand over a five-month period as of 25 October to nine flights a week with an eventual increase to double daily services from March 2010.
Besides the Greek capital, the airline is also adding routes to Paris, Madrid and Stockholm-a near 40 percent increase in frequency across the four cities.
“While many airlines are cutting back capacity in the current economic conditions, we strongly believe on building capacity to meet the needs of the traveling public, both in the short-term and long-term,” said Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker.
